Today I purchased my semi formal dress for Thursday. It is a dark purple, and has a small design in the centre. I bought it at Le Chateau and it was pretty expensive so my mom paid for it. Semi formal will be a blast! I am very excited for Christmas as well as my birthday, it’s December 13 by the way. I am turning fourteen and wanting to have a party to celebrate. If I do, it’ll probably be a sleepover with a lot of people attending. This is my last NaBloPoMo, but I will probably continue to blog.

Nana

Today has been a sad and slow day. My Nana passed away on Thursday from a rough battle with cancer. She became sick in June and slowly got worse. Yesterday I attended the first funeral home. It was very sad but it helped when my cousins were with me because we share the same perspective of her. My Nana had 7 children and a total of 18 grandchildren. We are a large but close family. Today, there were two visitations, they weren’t as hard as the first but there was still a silence between everyone. Tomorrow is the funeral so I will not be attending school. I have to wake up very early but it is absolutely worth it.

Santa Claus Parade

Today Westlane students are participating in the Santa Claus Parade. The parade starts at 11:00 am and ends at approximately 12:45pm. We have to be there for 10:00 am to set up our float and position ourselves. Our meeting place is on the corner of Jepson street and Victoria avenue. We are handing out gingerbread cookie cutters throughout the parade instead of the balloons we usually use because of the amount of time the balloons take to make. If we participate in the parade we will receive 4 community service hours. This is great because it adds to my total of 8 hours. I will be standing with the cheerleaders since I am a member of team. We will be preform a dance routine as well as two fun Christmas cheers. Over all, i think Westlane will have a great float, school spirit, and have positive feedback from the crowd of citizens watching the parade.

Have you noticed how many groups people have been joining groups since Facebook’s new layout? There are so many and they are things that people think that they are the only people who do it. For instance, there is one that says, I sing the alphabet to look up a word in the dictionary. I do this every single time I need to use one. Another one is, I memorize lyrics faster than I do my homework. This one is so true! I have over 15 songs I know the lyrics off by heart to but can’t seem to memorize my division. I think the reasons we do that are because homework is boring and music has a catchy beat. I also like the one where it says I can’t stand to hear my voice in videos or recordings. I don’t know about you but I find it embarrassing. I don’t know why but I get very self-conscious when that happens. So far I have joined around 30 groups over the last two weeks and have become a fan of over 20 pages as well.

Disney movies

One of my favourite things are Disney movies. Not the new ones like Wall.E or UP, but classics like The Lion King and Cinderella. My favourite Disney movies are The Lion King, The Aristocats and Tarzan. However it is very hard for me to rank them because they are all excellent.

The Lion King is about a lion cub named Simba whose father is the King of the “pride lands”. The King is killed by his jealous brother Scar who then exiles Simba out of the “pride lands” so that Simba can never become the King. As the years go by, Simba grows older and eventually wants to challenge Scar for the rightful title as King. This movie attracts me because it involves animals, an amazing soundtrack and definitely has a great plot.

The Aristocats is a humorous story about a cat named Duchess and her three adorable kittens who belong to a millionaire. The millionaire’s butler overhears her talking about her will, and finds out that all of her possessions will be given to the cats. Out of greed he takes the cats to the middle of nowhere and leaves them. While there they meet an alley cat named Thomas O’Malley whose shows them their way home. I like this movie because it involves very cut kittens and is a love story between the two cats.

Tarzan is about a baby who happens to fall into the hands of gorillas because his parents were killed by a jaguar. The whole troop likes him except for the troop leader Kerchak, who is also his step-father. As he grows older he acts more like an ape until he meets other humans. One of those humans is a girl named Jane who he falls in love with. Tarzan learns to be a human and attempts to leave with him. As he leaves, poachers start attacking his Gorilla family. At this point Tarzan is put to the test to see if he can defend his family or not. This movie involves love, animals and has a soundtrack you can sing a long to. I highly recommend these movies if you are in need of something interesting to watch.

Extra Curricular Activities

Today Victoria came over to work on a dance audition for the dance team. We both have dancing backgrounds, however I stopped when I was ten. Over my 5 years of dance lessons I learned jazz, ballet, tap and hip-hop. My favourite is hip-hop because it has a fast beat and fun dance moves. We are doing our audition to the song 3 by Brittany Spears and it’s less than a minute long. We are set to audition at 4:00 so we will continue to practice all day long. I am currently trying to decide on an extra curricular activity I can start in the new year. I either want to sing, dance or take music lessons. I have experience singing because at my graduation last year I preformed the song “When You Believe” with my vice- principal on stage, I am also involved in Westlane’s choir and eclipse choir and I really enjoy singing in general. Dancing has been a passion of mine for a long time, and I find I have to try to make every step perfect in order for the dance to go correctly. I used to play piano for many years but didn’t like it because it wasn’t interesting for me, and my teacher was very helpful either because she never explained it to me. However, I think because I have taken instrumental classes at Westlane I understand musical theory better and I am prepared to play correctly so let me know what you think I should do for my extra curricular activity.

Mondays

I strongly dislike Mondays because they require you to wake up early when you’ve already gotten used to sleeping in for two days and even though you have already done a large amount of homework over the weekend, you are assigned homework for Monday night as well. Normally on Mondays I wear track pants and a comfy shirt with my hair pulled back because I am too lethargic to do otherwise. The whole day I usually am “off beat”, meaning I am doing everything differently. I usually fall asleep earlier because I am tired from the early rise out of bed. Mondays are helpful in a way because it’s my transition into the week and it means the week is closer to the end.

Lazy Day

Today being Sunday I was very lethargic. I stayed in track pants and hoody for the whole day, and left my hair to dry naturally. For supper I ate a hamburger and french fries, and for dessert I had Neapolitan ice cream. Neapolitan ice cream is my favourite flavor because it combines the most popular flavors into on tub of ice cream. Those flavors are vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Tomorrow morning I have a orthodontist appointment at 8:00. When I am there they usually tighten the brackets around my teeth to my teeth straight and because I had impacted canine teeth, I had surgery to lower them into place, so every time I go to the orthodontists, they bring them down for me. Now after a long and lazy day, I am going to fall asleep.

Shopping/Sister/Homework

This morning I woke up at ten o’clock unwillingly. At 11 o’clock my grandmother came to my house to take my sister and me shopping. I ended up purchasing two tops and a pair of gray dress pants. The first top i bought was a fuchsia blouse and the second one was a navy blue long sleeve top. I had to go to the tailors to get my pants hemmed because they were too long. Later this evening my sister Ulva and her boyfriend Ken came to visit. She is twenty-seven and lives in Toronto but is moving back to Niagara Falls to search for a new job. Next I am going to finish my math homework and work on the music/Romeo and Juliet assignment.

Shopping and Homework

Tomorrow I am going shopping at the Pen Centre with my grandma. Instead of calling her grandma we call her “meme” because when my sister was little she could not pronounce the french word for grandma since my grandma is of french decent. She is taking me and my sister shopping for dressy clothing you would wear to special events because we basically have none. I am looking for a black pencil skirt with a nice white blouse.

After I write my blog I will finish the rest of the Romeo and Juliet questions that were assigned and then watch the movie Taken. Taken is an excellent movie about an ex-CIA agent whose daughter was abducted while in Paris, France. With his training and skill he works ferociously to find his daughter. Another thing I will be doing tonight is finishing my math review, to prepare for a test on Monday and complete my mythology ISU over the weekend as well as the music/Romeo and Juliet assignment.
